Keine Überraschungen
Am Donnerstag, 5. Mai 2001 fand die 32. Verleihung des
prestigeträchtigen Blues Music Award
im Cook Convention Center in Memphis, TN statt. Die Blues Foundation hatte
Preise in 28 Kategorien zu verteilen. Die Jury war nicht allzu mutig und hat
weitgehend etablierte Musiker geehrt. Die Preise Buddy Guy hat gleich in vier Kategorien gewonnen: Album
des Jahres, B.B. King Entertainer des Jahres, zeitgenössicher männlicher Künstler
des Jahres, sowie zusammen mit Tom Hambridge in der Kategorie Song des Jahres. Drei Preisträger
konnten die Auszeichnung nicht mehr erleben: Pinetop Perkins, Solomon
Burke und Robin Rogers wurden
die Preise posthum verliehen.
